Going East

Like a westerly, Glitter is going east,
moving continents for the month of May.

It all starts in Glitter's hometown of Bucharest
then it travels back, with stops in London and Norwich.

A month full of glittery fabulousity should be expected,
where I catch up with old friends, meet new ones,
walk the cobblestone streets of Europe in painfully fabulous heels
and hopefully squeeze in some shopping sessions.

Heels checked, retro luggage checked
and some glitter to keep me company,
I am soon off in the air, leaving my beloved Vancouver.

See you soon Europe!

The Glitter Slave

Retail slave by day, glitterati by night, Hobo Joe on days off.
Tired of this life and just looking for those lazy days, days of sunshine and freedom, of shopping and dining and an upcoming trip.

Planning these days of freedom is no easy task. Appointments need to be scheduled, people need to be seen, gifts need to be bought, outfits need to be packed and a bit of last minute emergency shopping is always a must.

But counting down the days is always fun!

A Glitter Easter

Because holidays need to be celebrated
Because traditions have to be observed,
Because religions are confusing,
Today is Easter day at the Glitter Mansion.

...and so we pick the freshest daffodils out of our neighbors garden,
paint our nails a matching colour,
and reminisce of those sweet childhood Easter memories,
where white bow tights were most in vogue,
pastel pink was the colour of choice
and gorging on chocolate eggs was the highlight of the day.

Indulgent Escapes

photos by Jen

"Every once in a while, a girl has to indulge herself."-Carrie Bradshaw
... and that's what I've been doing lately.
Ice cream diets have become de rigouer at Casa de Glitter
where aromatic pecan praline ice cream are served for dinner
on the soft comfy couch in front of the most happening thing in Vancouver.
I'm talking about our very own trash TV show where drama and cat fights are done
west coast style: The Real Housewives of Vancouver.
One has to be careful though to detach themselves from this "idealistic" world as soon we wake up to a new day where sunshine might not always be there, the birds might not be cheering "good morning" and bills might pile up for too long.
But a short escape for a few moments has never hurt anyone in the end.

Friday Night's Recipe

Friday nights are all the craze, signifying the end of a hard working week and the beginning of the mini party season called: the weekend.
My recipe for starting it off on the right foot starts with throwing on some gold,
then bask in your own glowiness and call yourself a goddess.
Whether you adorn yourself with chunky gold necklaces or throw on that too tight and too short dress,
gold is bound to make your head spin twice and melt the heart of others.
...and to save yourself from going off the deep end, put on your life jacket and grab on to a man,
a handsome one if you can.
